About Croydon Petanque Club

So, who are Croydon Petanque Club?

We were founded in 1996, originally playing in Crystal Park park.

We are open to players of all abilities, even absolute beginners.

We consider ourselves a friendly club, a great place to play the sport, and we are very welcoming to new members. So welcoming that we even allow you to play up to 3 taster sessions without obligation, if you’re not quite sure.  We have spare boules available for anyone who does not have their own and there is no formal dress code or special footwear required.

At Croydon Petanque Club, we play regular club sessions all year round and, while our club competitions are normally held during the Summer (check out this year’s Competitions results page), we do hold a special Christmas melée in December. Some of our more experienced members are able to provide basic coaching for complete beginners, while advice on technique, tactics (and which pubs to go to after play) is always available.

We are affiliated to Petanque England (their website is at https://www.petanque-england.uk/) and encourage members wishing to play in their, or any other, open competitions to take out individual Petanque England membership. Our affiliation also provides us with insurance cover – further details are available on their website at https://www.petanque-england.uk/insurance/
